10 Best Weekend Getaways in the UK
Posted on 18 February 2020

Who else is in desperate need of a weekend escape? The good news is you don’t necessarily need to splash out on a city break abroad when there are so many great cities and experiences right on your doorstep!
So in no particular order, we have our top 10 weekend getaways in the UK for 2020…
1) Bristol
Bristol’s got it all! Go on a bike tour to explore the city and visit Bristol’s most famous landmark, the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
The streets are also buzzing with bars and restaurants and there’s a variety of food stalls for you to try out too. I’ve heard Bristol is the West Country’s foodie capital – what’s not to love!
2) Bath
Right next door to Bristol, we have Bath…
Bath makes for an ideal couple’s retreat. Packed full of boutique hotels and trendy restaurants to wine and dine your other half, this is the place to be.
Ofc, you can’t visit the city without going to the famous Thermae Bath Spa!

3) Manchester
Why visit Manchester? It’s a huge city with so much going on, jam packed with great shops, art galleries and a 10/10 music scene.
Head to Manchester’s Chinatown for some unreal food and top your weekend off with a night out at The Warehouse Project.
4) Edinburgh
Edinburgh is another big city buzzing with fun things to do. Wander down Edinburgh’s most famous street, the Royal Mile, and climb to the top of Arthur’s Seat for some insane views. If you’re more into partying, Edinburgh has lots of pubs, bars and clubs perfect for you too.
Why not visit in August when Edinburgh really comes to life and go to Edinburgh Festival Fringe? This is defo on my list of places to go in 2020!

5) The Cotswolds
Think the ultimate escape to the country. If you like the great outdoors, this is the perfect weekend trip for you.
Expect a quiet getaway from your busy lifestyle back at home and make the most of it. Wander through the pretty villages, walk the dog and grab a Sunday roast at a local pub.
6) Cambridge
Cambridge is the perfect romantic weekend getaway. Pick a weekend to visit in the Spring or Summer and spend your time taking riverside walks and indulging in pub lunches in the sun.
No trip to Cambridge would be complete without punting! You can hire your own or choose a guided tour to do the hard work for you so you can relax in the back.

Have a laugh with your mates on Brighton pier, lounge around on the beach with an ice cream and get your hands on some vintage steals in the Lanes. Remember no British beach getaway is complete without fish & chips!
