Top Summer Date Ideas

The sun is out, the days are longer…now you just need a bae, right?

Summer is the time when sitting in bed watching Netflix just doesn’t appeal so much. All you wanna do is soak up that Vitamin D before Winter arrives again. And…it will come around quick – so enjoy it whilst you can!

Whether you are looking to impress that special someone or prepping for a first date, we have plenty of ideas sure to break the ice and let the love blossom. No need for pre-date nerves with these solid choices!

Go to an Outdoor Cinema

Imagine it…sitting under the stars, snuggled up - if you're lucky - on a bean bag next to your date watching a film on a giant screen.

With classics from Grease and Dirty Dancing to the more recent, The Greatest Showman and A Star is Born, there is bound to be one of your faves thrown in there.

Romantic enough for a first date, especially if you choose a sunset viewing. If it goes well, you could be reliving the romance shown on the screen in front of you!

For the Londoners, some of the best include Film4 Summer Screen at Somerset House, Rooftop Film Club in Stratford as well as many more up and down the country from Pop Up Screens and Luna Cinema.

Play Mini Golf

The perfect opportunity to show off your golfing skills and let that competitive side come out. If you're lacking on the skills front, show you can laugh at yourself as much as your date probably will...nothing like a sore loser to ruin the mood! Keep spirits high by making sure the banter flows as well as the booze.

Super affordable, great fun and a definite ice breaker. Not forgetting the all-important date outfit…we’d recommend a crisp white trainer and a bum bag to ensure you are hands-free and ready to show off your best golfing stance.

If you are feeling extra confident, why not upgrade to the driving range and let the real competition begin.

Drink at a Rooftop Bar

If you are of age, opt for the more boujee option of sipping cocktails whilst the sun sets over the London skyline.

An opportunity to dress up a little and impress your date. The outfit is important for this one…smart casual is the way forward. For the girls, pair a cute summer dress with flat or heeled sandals. And for the boys, style a white tee with a blazer and a pair of loafers.

London especially has a whole host of the best rooftop bars to choose from. If classy is what you are looking for, Aqua Neuva or The Bar at Madison is the place to go. Madison's overlooks St Pauls Cathedral and is a popular one for the perfect Instagram pic. Or, if you are seeking a more laidback vibe, Roof East in Stratford offers various games and activities to enjoy in the sun.

Go to the Zoo

If you or your other half is an animal lover, the zoo is the date location for you.

Scrub up on your animal knowledge the day before to ensure you impress with weird facts about a Lion or Rhino – a strong talking point if you ask me.

From London to Colchester, there is a zoo located in most counties so be sure to do your research and find the best one near you.

London Aquarium is also a shout if this date goes well!

Hire a Pedalo

This one combines a romantic setting with a fun activity. Overlook the lakes and greenery whilst having your first 'argument' about who is putting the most work in!

Explore the London parks for the most picturesque spot, Hyde Park or Regent’s Park are familiar favourites!

Appropriate footwear is a must – the last thing you want to be doing is losing a flip flop to the lake, also add a cap or hat for ultimate Summer vibes.

Why not bring along a picnic basket and enjoy some food on the river bank afterwards?

Indulge at a Bottomless Brunch

Bottomless food and drink…what more could you ask for.

A big trend at the mo and an excuse to drink before lunch time - not that you need one. Popular locations include Dirty Martini, Bunga Bunga, Pachamama and Ballie Ballerson.

Ideal if you are looking to curve those first date nerves with a few proseccos!

Plus, if it goes well – you can hang around and extend your date into the evening.
