10 Socially Distanced Date Ideas

Things are looking up and virtual dating may be becoming a thing of the past (fingers crossed!) After months of talking online, chatting on Tinder and Hinge, and sticking to FaceTime for date night, you can finally meet your lockdown lover in person!

Whilst your original summertime date plans might have gone out the window, there’s still time to find bae this summer and enjoy yourself (socially distanced, ofc) on a date. Take a look at our socially distanced date ideas.

1.    Picnic in the park

Luckily for us, outside date ideas aren’t off the cards this summer. Head to the shops and grab your fave picnic food - sandwiches, sushi, strawberries, nibbles and more...

If you want to make your date Insta-worthy, pick out a pretty picnic blanket for the occasion!

2.    A Netflix movie night

Netflix Party is a wonderful thing! This chrome extension lets your sync up your Netflix viewing and message each other at the same time. Or you can talk on the phone whilst watching your chosen movies. Bring on another Netflix binge!

3. See a drive-in movie

Or why not take it one step further? Loads of places across the UK, including The Luna Drive-In Cinema, are offering the ultimate drive-in experience. So grab the popcorn and watch your fave film from the comfort of your car.

4.    Eat Out to Help Out

50% off food and soft drinks? Yes please!

Make good use of the new Eat Out to Help Out Scheme, launched on the 3rd of August and get a maximum of £10 discount per diner from certain pubs, restaurants and cafes. Stick to Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays for date night this August and treat yourself to a meal out with bae.

And the best thing about this scheme is that you can use it as many times as you like until the 31st August!

5.    Punting in Cambridge

Punting is the best way to explore Cambridge. You can now book a socially distanced shared punting tour or, if you’re feeling v romantic, your own private tour and take a trip along the river with Let's Go Punting.

We love this idea!

6.    Takeaway in the park

Pack your fave drink, grab a takeaway from your local and head to the park for an evening of fun. Organise your date for the evening and watch the sunset over the park for a super cute aesthetic.

7.    Beer garden

Beer gardens are a great first date location and come with a great excuse to ease those first date nerves. Make sure you book in advance to avoid missing out on a spot outside!

8.    BBQ in the garden

Show off your cooking skills and invite bae over for a socially distanced BBQ in your garden. This is the time to really impress!

 9. Head to the coast

Whilst you may not be taking a trip abroad this summer, there are still plenty of cool beaches in the UK to pay a visit. Pick a warm, sunny weekend and head to the coast for a fun day of chilling at the beach.

From Brighton to Devon to Bournemouth, what's your fave beach destination in the UK?

10. Romantic walk

The British summer seems to be bringing us warm weather this year, so pick a nice park and meet your date for a socially distanced walk in the sunshine. Why not treat yourself to ice cream on your walk too? It is summer after all!

If you’re stuck on what to wear for your date, why not take a look at our Valentine’s Day outfit inspo and browse our men’s clothes and women’s clothes so you’re looking on point for your date.
